Wow, I'm coming up on one month in Kuwait!
Busy at work, I will be working most of today getting ready for the week.
Finally bought a gym membership today! weighed myself on the way out of the gym...I've lost 12 pounds since I've been here....not a good 12 either....going to have to gain that back.
So in these next three photo's, you'll notice a "haze". That haze is dust in the air. The wind picked up last night and the whole place is hazy today. It apparently gets a lot worse than this!
So at the Avenues mall here, a huge shopping centre, there is an IKEA. Thought it was interesting seeing IKEA written in Arabic. All the western stores and chains are here, all written in both Arabic and English.
This restaurant is between my work and the gym, never been there but I love the name. A little afraid of what they actually serve there.
There are what appear to be many abandoned cars around town. Real parking lots are few and far between. People park in vacant lots, of course the vacant lots are sand with some garbage thrown around just for effect. It is not uncommon to see cars that are damaged, flat tires, covered with sand and dirt and sitting literally for months or years in these vacant lots. Siting by work are some real beauties.
Trained in iaido last week, which went well, but in order to train at the club I would have to pay 600KD for a year...about $2200...not going to happen. I've been to better fitness clubs around here that charge half of that. Talked to some people at work, and I should be able to train at work on weekends, once that gets confirmed, I need to figure out how to get an iaito and a jo into the country!
So things are basically going well here, getting into a routine, figuring things out, and making do when necessary. So far, so good.

So obviously no bacon over here, but they have what they call breakfast strips. essentially smoked beef, veal, turkey or chicken pretending to be real bacon. A little bland in taste, but with eggs, hash browns and toast, it'll do just fine thank you.
